Some pictures from one of the nice days we have had. To say Joshua likes to be outside is a HUGE understatement. There are always tears when we have to go inside. We can't wait till the weather is nice enough to play every night when we come home from work!

Race for the Cure 2011

The picture above shows the weather we had to deal with the morning of the walk. We actually only got sprinkled on a couple of times. It wasn't as bad as this picture shows. We had JCS in several layers and blankets in his stroller.

The weather didn't stop the other 10,000 + participants either!

Auntie & her friend Jenny were okay to just the 1 mile family walk, but Joshua and I said we are doing the 5k so we can see the elephants!

 We made it! We had a great time visiting with Jenny. Jenny's mom met us after the race for lunch. A great time with good friends!

The big boy goes to "school"

On Tuesdays Joshua goes to Grandma Dana's school to play. He plays with Mrs Dewell's (grandma's co-teacher) twin boys ~ Seth & Aaron 3 yrs old & Dustin. Natalie (who watches the boys) son Frankie is in Grandma Dana's class & her younger son Dustin also plays with the twins & Joshua.

The boys were playing with play dough. Joshua liked playing with it, but wanted no part of actually touching it. They have lots of "tools" that he used instead of his fingers.

Lookin' for Daddy

 Joshua asleep in mommy's arms. We had a pretty nasty storm go through our area last week. There was a tornado that touched down within a half mile of our house. The sirens went off just after we had laid JCS down. I picked him up and held him through the storm in the bathroom. He had no problem sleeping at all ~ actually he snored the whole time his was in my arms!

The subdivision hit by the tornado is called Red Oaks. Joshua & I often drive down 9th street in the morning on the way to the shop. It's one of those spots and makes you stop and notice nature. We often saw deer in the open fields. The area had huge old trees. It's so sad to see how destroyed this area is now.

Thankfully & amazingly, no people were hurt in this storm.

Daddy & Joshua's day out

***I'd like to welcome Jim to the world of blogging. It wasn't really something he wanted to do & he thinks the program is not user friendly, but alas, he blogged and I appericate it!***

Joshua & Daddy spent Saturday together while Mommy worked & had a prom show.

They started their day at Mollenkopf Athletic Center before the start of the Spring Game.

The facility was opened up for kids to get autographs from all the Purdue football players and also try out several football skills tests.  Joshua was too small for all the activities, but he did love having all the open space just to run around.

A group of older men watching all the actives going on asked if we were training him to be a running back. I told them if ended up with daddy's speed, he'd probably be better off as a lineman.

While working our way to end of the field, Joshua decided he needed to take a break before entering the red zone. 

 Once we made it to the end zone, Joshua had plenty of space to work on his touchdown dance.  If you ask me, it wasn't too bad for a first attempt.

 Once we had visited every open space at Mollenkoph (and some that weren't supposed to be open), we made our way over to Ross Ade to watch the game.



All that running around can sure make a little boy hungry!

 We got their plenty early to ensure that we could get a good seat for all the hard hitting action.  Needless to say, there was more than enough space to work off all that extra energy that had been regained thanks to the cheese sandwich and goldfish crackers.

Once the football players took the field and started their warm-ups and pregame practices, Joshua started to pay some attention to what was happening on the field. However, the group that really got his attention was the band!

Once Joshua tired of the spring game (which was pretty much right after it started), we headed to the south side of campus to check out a hot and muggy Spring Fest!

The first thing we came upon was some sort of Forestry Olympics. 

First Event:  Women's Log Toss

 The remains of some type of Chopping Event.  Not exactly sure who won....

We then traveled into the land of Bug Bowl! Joshua got to "pet" a hissing cockroach...not sure if he really knew what he was touching.

It wouldn't be Bug Bowl if you didn't try some of the freshly prepared dishes made with actual bugs.

For those that prefer sushi, they had some meal worms for you too!

Once we made it through the Bug Bowl crowds, Joshua was pretty much done...no nap and the year's first 80 degree will do to you.  After a quick stop to pet a baby cow and a walk through the plant and forestry exhibits, we headed back to the car to wrap our adventures.

Nothing wraps up a day of football, bugs, and Indiana humidity like a bottle of juice and some gold fish crackers!

All in all we had a really fun day together and we're already looking forward to next year's Spring Fest.

By the way, even though we weren't there to see it, Purdue did win it's football game.  No word yet if the win will count towards a bowl bid for the team.

Last night Andrea invited Joshua & I down to have a play date with her & David. It's been awhile since we had the boys together so we were excited to see how they did & they did great!

We had a great time playing & can't wait to have another play date! We are so glad that we have good friends so close to us! It's going to be so much fun to watch these two grow up together!

You learn as a parent there are things that you do that are different then the way others do them. I have a really hard time letting Joshua get this messy. He was completely playing in his mac & cheese. I know he has to learn how to feed himself and that it will be a messy process, but it drives me nuts!

The boys (JCS & Duke) have been playing outside a little after we get home from work. I can't wait to watch them this summer. I think they will be the best of friends!

Joshua loves Great Grandma Evelyn's applesauce. Actually, he refused store bought applesauce since he's had Great Grandma's ....but anyway... Daddy has taught him to dip his sandwich in to the applesauce.
